'very high' disabled

my pc specs are:

Intel Xeon Processor
Core 2 Quad Q 8200 2.4ghz, 2.3ghz
4 GB ram
Geforce 9800 GT 1 GB graphic card (updated driver to 1.90)
160 gb HD
Windows XP SP 3
however i cant play it on very high. the very high option is not highlighted at all. If i try clicking on it it does not get selected. does anyone know why?

For some reason, the very high setting is reserved for directx10, windows vista or higher, although most of them work just fine on dx9 and xp. I recommend reading:

My Crysis looks way better after tweaking, especially the UsePOM setting.
