Abysmal?

I saw the trailer for this movie and immediately judged it; boring, incoherent, pretentious, annoying. An advertisement to stay away, but I was interested in enough in the plot synopsis to read the book (in one sitting on New Year's day). The book is crazy. I might not have liked it but it definitely made an impression and kept me turning the pages. The next day, with the characters and story fresh in my mind, I went to the movie, thinking, how could a boring movie possibly be made from that crazy, unfilmable story?
I think the movie is for a different audience than people who loved the book. wine-lovers? People who like France? People who buy things with "Live Love Laugh" written on them from rural gift shops? But unfortunately because the film is boring and doesn't make sense, whoever it was intended is irrelevant.
I could only make sense of the story from my book-knowledge, and a lot of it had changed or been omitted. I didn't personally like the changes, it interpreted the book in a way that was quite different to my own, it was so different that I felt it had actually misinterpreted the story, kidnapped it and made it masquerade as something else against its will. But weirdly, for such a shamelessly unfaithful adaptation, a lot dialogue is lifted straight from the page and sounds unnatural. Screenplay fail!
Minor details - the location and costumes look good but the angel looks FAKE. His wings have visible straps. Also Celeste looks younger than her daughter, which is lol number 2.
In summary, the film is not worth watching for the casual viewer and those who read the book will be disappointed. A sad and pointless endeavour.

That is a very apt review. Perhaps you could put it in the review section of the page instead of just in the boards?
