The premise doesn't sound that exciting or original but I guess it's all in the excecution, I thought Hereos sounded lame but it's great. As long as it doesn't treat the viewer as brain dead with the attention span of a goldfish the way Tru calling did, something that bugged the crap out of me and made it a pain to watch despite Eliza doing a great job in the lead.
With several movies coming out she should be in the news so that may help the pilot get publicity and/or greenlit as a series. The director/exec producer has directed a few good films so that's a good sign.
Oh yeah I just checked the directors page and he directed Peter Pan and My Best Friend's Wedding so that's definitely a good sign!
And now that Eliza joined the cast I'm pretty sure it'll get more attention. It was all over the news websites. Yahoo, Variety, Reuters, Aol, Zap2It, ComingSoon, and I live in Brazil and there were three sites talking about that, too. It definitely created some buzz around the show.
But I really don't know what to expect of it - I don't really know how they can make it original 'cause there are already so many hospital shows.
Maybe if it doesn't center too much on the hospital and more on the lives of the nurses. Like Showbar. It really wasn't about the bar, it was more about Piper Perabo's character. A lot more.

There's no way this can be original, because as you say there are so many hospital shows they're all clones of one another to a certain extent. The most original one out there is Scrubs because its completely off the wall, but if it was an ordinary drama it would be generic. It sounds like it will focus a lot on the personal lives aspect, within the hospital. It's a dramedy so should have some good comedy moments as well as drama.
