of any other movies similar to this structure? ie: someone unable to communicate themselves freely/directly in their normal life, therefore turning to an alternate reality? Would help me a lot. Thanks heaps :)

The perfect example of such a film is the popular Fight Club. Another film that is in the same category would be The Machinist.
This film is supposedly based on a real-life incidence which is not true to with the films I suggested. I am not quite sure if David Lynch's Mulholland Drive would be an example of this or not?
