When Ben took Xtc

I'm sick and tired of storywriters who don't know *beep* about the drugs that the characters take in their film. First of all: who believes that two bullies would make someone swallow a pill and then flee! I would like to meet some boys like that! And if you do: next time bring a camera and stay with em xD.
Second of all, what bottered me the most: A XTC pill takes between half an hour and an hour to take effect; Ben was almost immedeatly foaming and getting hallucinatins(!... That would take more than one pill, even with a strong one like a blue Mitsubishu).

They always do this in them Children/teenagers flicks. They're informing us wrong, trying to keep us of that *beep*

Hell yeah man, I'd love to be out on a friday night and some random bloke shoves an E in my face. Jackpot.

Orange county has a good representation of an E high.

First of all, you're already spoiling the movie only in the thread title.

Second, there sure are guys like that. Believe it or not. I'm pretty sure you don't know every one on the whole planet.

Third, it didn't happened in real life. How would Greg Timmermans feel with lots of pills in his mouth only for the shootings? It's just a movie, it doesn't have to be totally realistic that way.

And I totally agree with salamander_43.

reply

you make a film about a serious topic as bully so why wouldn't you make it realistic?
it totally breaks the film at moments

The amount of bullying in this film in general was over the top and dramatic.
It was a bit annoying seeing a whole class participate in bullying someone with autism.

I have been in some terrible schools, and had friends that have as well; I've yet to encounter any large scale bullying.
Hell, In my school I've never seen the nerdiest of nerds even get teased.

What I wanna' know is how did the pill suddenly give him the ability to be somewhat socially normal, communicate, and rationalize peoples feelings.

He was still high when he tore his room apart. Is that "normal"?

I have no idea why you would want to meet boys like that. Are you looking for drugs being forced on you?
And the effects of the drug were not depicted "almost immediately", if you paid attention.

reply

What bothered me the most is that all those "teenagers" are actually 35 or something.

1. personal experience =/= all encompassed knowledge of the human species. im sure stuff like this happens all the time. I come from a decent highschool that had a student who was disabled but kept with the class. He was picked on and made fun of, maybe not to the extent like in this film but In different areas I can see it escalating

2. the drug effects were not immediate. he laid on the ground for an uncertain amount of time. in fact enough time elapsed, that his mother was still at home, called and called, decided to leave and find him. Some where in between leaving and finding him we were shown the psychedelic effects of the drug

3. this is for a different poster:
Ecstasy also MDMA is a drug that has been suggested to have therapeutic benefits. Now a controlled substance, prior usage included augmentation to psychotherapy. helped treat clinical depression and anxiety disorders. Who knows how Ben could have reacted to this drug, stranger things have happened.
