Worth watching?

Missed the first episode but as a fan of Mathew Horne is it worth watching?

reply

It's alright, but nothing special.

On second thought, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place.

reply

The next episode will be better, it couldn't be worse.

Thought the trailers looked promising and had been rather looking forward to it... Sadly, it just did not work at all... I'm not even entirely sure what the problem was. Though, as there's some talented actors involved, I'm leaning towards the writing.

I just got done taming a wild honeymoon stallion for you guys.

reply

I liked it a lot, it reminded me of "The Robinsons", and "Worst Week of My Life". Looking forward to the rest of the series.

reply

I just caught it last week and found it hilarious.
Very odd, but funny! Not everyone will like or get it.

My roids are on fire!!!

reply

It's okay but I would recommend anyone who watches it to go buy AD.

However with my screen name and sig you may not think that's an unbiased opinion!

I am enjoying this show but it makes me feel sad we lost AD.

If you like genius comedy watch Arrested Development
..

reply

The trailers did look promising but I regret watching it now.

nothing laugh out loud. Nothing witty or clever.

Good music.

It was trying to be a British version of Arrested Development or (to a lesser extent) My Name Is Earl but fell woefully short. As has been noted, the cast was pretty good so I think it was the writing that was at fault. It was impossible to get involved or care about any of the characters.
In fairness, it was only one episode and might improve. But I'm really not sure I can bring myself to watch anymore.

i laughed loads.

and! its a great line up. chris from it crowd, matt from catherine tate show, nic from nathan barley/man stroke woman, carla from my dad's the PM.

reply

Worth watching just for Montserrat Lombard - GRRRRR!!!

reply

I think its a great show. Strange, but funny

Think like Oliver Cromwell; talk like Charles I

It improves as it goes along. Great cast, nice surreal touches, especially the murderous Japanese waiter, and a great theme tune. With all these abysmal 'sketch comedies' - a contradiction in terms - it's good to see something with a plot. Noone else seems to like it but 'Still Game' was undervalued too and that was good. (And also had surreal situations, good cast and great theme tune.)

More than worth it, one of the funniest things I've seen in ages!

Roger And The Beef Cucumber

reply

Yes. Really funny.

Me, Fail English. That's unpossible!
-Gregory Goyle.

I totally agree. It's the first BBC comedy, since the days of Vic and Bob, that i've actually looked forward to watching. Absolutely love it. I'm surprised it's getting such negative criticism on here tbh (no, i haven't seen arrested development).

reply

Best BBC British comedy since My Family. I'll be requesting a refund on my licence fee if they keep coming up with this unoriginal, unfunny type of "comedy".

reply

This show is abysmal. Not funny in the slightest and it is embarassing to watch such a blatant rip-off of Wes Anderson's works. Whoever made this pulled the wool over someone's eyes along the way.

reply

Did I just get the point! My boyfriend just flicked over to this and for all I could tell it seemed to be encouraging paedophillia: describing a child as 'hot and sexy' and making a joke about a head-teacher being on a blind-date contest from what I could make out was one of his pupils.
I cannot believe that anybody would alow this into the general public.

reply

I loved it. I am also an AD fan, and there are some similarities, but it is definitely worth watching in its own right - I don't believe it is a clone.
