anyone know anything?

is this a pro-peta movie or what? the name sound pro animal rights, but the artwok says otherwise.

reply

I'm thinking that it's not pro-peta because Pam Anderson doesn't seem to be in it. I'm wondering too.

Has anyone seen Penn & Teller's B*llsh*t about Peta? Something about how they kill millions* of animals a year?

*edit-wow, I was wrong on my numbers, interesting episode though.

I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal. People know me.

reply

No, they don't kill millions of animals a year......
PETA only kills about 80-90 thousand animals a year.

reply

It supposed to be neutral with no narration just footage representing both sides which presumably should make their respective cases and speak for themselves.

reply

Hmmm, sounds interesting then.

As a vegetarian, I can safely tell PETA TO KISS MY ASS!

I bet GW Bush got a 17.5 inch perch but the LIBERAL MEDIA took 1 off and changed it to a 7.5

reply

It is a documentary - it is not for one side or the other. Mainly it deals with the case against the "SHAC 7" (Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty), members of an animal rights group that was convicted of harrassment, terrorism, and conspiracy to commit interstate stalking (among other things) on March 3, 2006.
It aired for the first time at the San Francisco Indie Fest on February 19th, 2007.

wow if the FBI say that animal activism is the number ONE terrorist threat then they need to get their priorities straight.

Yes some people are crazy but come on... that ridiculous

Unlike Pro-Lifers who only blow up clinics and doctors in the name of Jesus to get their point across!

But of course, when you're on-side with ole Dubya, you can pretty much call anyone you like a "terrorist" these days...

You are talking out of your anus. This comes from the official credo of the ALF -- the largest, most "radical" AR group:

"It is a nonviolent campaign, activists taking all precautions not to harm any animal (human or otherwise).

"(The ALF will) take all necessary precautions against harming any animal, human and non-human."

Now, if you have any evidence of the ALF or SHAC or any other AR organization actually targeting and taking human life (not accidental collateral damage), then bring it on!

The ALF does NOT inflict economic damage "to get their point across." They do it to liberate animals from the true terrorists (animal abusers) and hinder the further use of those torture chambers.

You don't have a clue how big business and spineless legislators conspire to suppress your inalienable civil liberties in the name of the scandalous "War on Terror." For the love of all that is holy, WAKE UP!

"Funny like a clown? I amuse you, I make you laugh? I'm here to f--kin' amuse you?"

Too bad people's words and actions often clash, eh? If you're actually trying to argue that ALF or PETA practice what they preach and that it isn't just there for the courtrooms and gullible peons like yourself, you're beyond help.

Even an idiot should be able to sense something amiss when a person or group claims to adhere to "nonviolence" and then resorts to nothing but violence, coercion, vandalism and harassment to force an unpopular and uneducated belief on others.

I'd accuse you in turn of talking out of your ass, but that would be giving you too much credit. You're merely parroting the same buzzwords and propaganda out of your ass. You're not even intelligent enough to invent your own BS.

Yup, those "true terrorists" who are actively trying to cure disease.
Not at all like those valiant heroes who raid schools dressed in chicken suits to pelt students with fake animal carcasses and blood, or break into private buildings and set fires.

Actually, I do, and it's exactly the same method people like Ingrid Newkirk and Rodney Corronado manipulate gullible people such as yourself.

If only there was a way to make people like you step back and realize just how STUPID you really are.

I work in a phamaceutical research facility that utilizes animals, and I can personally attest to the frequency and severity of threats and attacks from animal rights groups. I can honestly say that I've been in fear for my life numerous times within this year alone.

Our facility goes above and beyond legal standards for animal welfare, and I am a huge animal lover myself. The animals are happy and healthy and very well taken care of physically and socially.
I feel that the few cases of animal cruelty/neglect found in labs are seen as examples of normal conditions, which is absolutely NOT the case. I also know that most animal rights activists are not terrorists. However, the fact that I live under near-constant threat of physical harm should speak loudly about the amount of terrorist-type activity directed toward animal researchers...a great way to say thank you to those who dedicate themselves (and don't get paid much, by the way) to research that has saved the lives and eased suffering of hundreds of millions of humans and animals.

With What guy? SHAC is a group and NEVER physically harmed anyone. Maybe your mother harmed your brain by dropping you when you were born.

reply

Then you need to learn more about them. They're terrorists, pure and simple. They have harrassed, beaten and intimidated people with whom they disagree. They haven't killed anyone yet but that doesn't mean they haven't committed other disgusting acts.

These people are far worse than those they oppose.

My guess is it's going to be leaning towards showing the crazier people in PETA and whatnot instead of the Humane Society. The director was involved with Michael Moore Hates America.

i just saw one of the screenings at fantasia (in montreal) and it's very sympathetic to the animal rights movement while still managing to come off as neutral in an ideological sense. very obviously the director feels the the FBI's declaration of war on animal rights activists is *beep* he leaves the discussion on the tactics employed by activists fairly open. peta and the humane society both get taken down a notch...but using evidence provided in interviews with both those on the left and right. definately worth seeing...but i was a little disappointed at the almost total absence of anything related to industrial animal farming...too much time was spent on companion animal and pet issues.

a trailer for it is posted on the ALF website who regularly supports PETA, so it seems it would be more peta than not...

How can I actually see this film?
