Chipmunk singing
Did the actors actually do the singing for the chipmunks?

shareI was watching a behind the scenes thing on the DVD on how they produced the songs for the movie and it showed that none of the actors sang on the Chipmunk songs. I didn't hear the people mention that Jesse McCartney sang, but that's what I saw and heard.

shareAlvin's singing voice is provided by Ross Bagdasarian Jr. who, according to Wikipedia even had himself considered for the role of Dave, but being almost 60 he decided to step down and let a younger actor (Jason Lee) do his part... but he reprises the singing voice of Alvin which he also did in the 80s show and the Chipmunk Adventure.
shareRoss Bagdasarian Jr. is the son of the original creator, and did the voices of the chipmunks (along with his wife) for the old tv show in the 80s, as well as the voice of dave... originally he was going to play Dave, but the execitvives in the fancy suits said he was too old for the part. so he settled for just doing the voices of the chipmunks... but again, the suits wanted 'fresh' (unnecessary) young actors; Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler and Jesse McCartney (which i don't understand; its not like you can TELL that its them... their voices are synthesized anyways) i guess poor Ross Bagdasarian Jr. just can't get a break (he did get to be Alvin's singing voice though)
