The Chipmunk Franchise got better treament than...

Okay, well granted the movie was bad but not horrid. Some parts were unwatchable while most others could've been approved upon with better writing and direction.

I was surprise by complaints about the "gross jokes" as there really was only one fart joke and one poop joke and both pass on really quickly.

To me I think 20th Century Fox gave this franchise better treatment than they did with Garfield. Good god! They butchered the hell out of Garfield! At least Dave and the Chipmunks were for the most part true to their characters and they used the original songs that made this franchise famous as an homage.

What did Garfield get? A whole bunch OUT OF CHARACTER!!! Having Nermal voiced by a black guy? WTF?! Clearly not a writer for that first film bothered to watch any of the TV shows or read the comic strips. Jon and Liz were too goody goody and sweet to each other. NOT TRUE TO THE GARFIELD COMICS AT ALL!!! If anything, the way Dave was portrayed in this film (a loser) should've been applied to Jon Arbuckle. And Claire is more true to Liz in the Garfield comic strips than when Jennifer Love Hewitt played her in the film.

Just had to vent.

Exactly! I totally agree! Nothing about Garfield was true to the original comic strips or the movies/tv show. I am one of the biggest Garfield fans you can meet and I was horrified by the movie. I don't know what I hated more, the story line that was all wrong, the characters were played by the wrong actors or that Garfield didn't even look anything like himself. I remember being so outraged that they had Odie played by some wiener dog instead of a beagle, that Jon got him from Liz instead of the pound, or that Liz has a crush on Jon. Uhm hello?! Not even close!! Bill Murray wasn't a bad choice for the voice of Garfield but that's about the only good decision made. Alvin and the Chipmunks may not have been exactly following the cartoon either but at least they looked pretty close and Jason Lee wasn't a bad Dave.

I hate the Garfield movies too but FYI, Nermal wasnt played a black guy. He was played by David Eigenberg from Sex and the City (who's very white, lol)

I personally think the Garfield movie is better than this.

Only good choice was bill Murray voicing Garfield. Sound pretty close to the original. Just bad script writing

Being a fan of the animated cartoons I loved the films.
