anyone know what this is about?

no, not really. Vinterberg hasn't talked that much about it, he hasn't been very public the last few years seeing how he's experienced extreme bashing from media aswell as moviegoers for his last to flicks, Dear Wendy and It's All About Love.

All I know is, that this is his return to danish cinema and I'm looking forward to it. I for one enjoyed Dear Wendy aswell as It's All About Love, and I'm kinda hoping that he'll make another celebration to get his career back on track.

I know what is about:

A small provincial town is buzzing with excitement: the town's most illustrious son, a world-famous opera singer, is coming home. Meanwhile, Sebastian, a kitchen boy who is as good as married, falls head over heels in love with the new maid, Maria. Their love affair, along with rumours that the opera singer and the kitchen boy are related, turns the town upside down, threatening to ruin everyone's high expectations and the opera singer's triumphant return.

Forgive me, but i'm not so good at english.

I agree, absolutely fantastic, had a smile on my face all the way through the movie.
Just posted a complete plot synopsis - leaving out a lot of the meaningful details which leave a lot up for interpretation tho. For those who know what I'm talking about: the bells, the bear skin, the mothers girlfriend etc.:P

Some people might not get this movie completely but I do believe most people will enjoy it immensely.

I thought it was a pleasant and funny comedy, but it didn't offer that much in terms of novelty or artistic content. Its strength was the quirky characters and the silly situations (the Swedish Buddhist chef, for instance), while its weakness was that the whole things was just a bit too tame. A lot of this material might have been interesting and new a few decades ago, but today I didn't feel it was anything that out of the ordinary. A fairly enjoyable movie, sure, but not really an art piece. To me, Vinterberg's artistically most successful movie is probably Dear Wendy, which is bitingly uncompromising, followed by The Celebration, which was basically a scathing critique of the hypocrisy of the wealthy bourgeoisie.
