Why does everybody hate Katie in this?

Personally, this is the first movie I really enjoyed Katie in. She's always playing the girl next door. That's how it's been since Dawson's Creek. Not that I see her in a lot, but what I do see of her, that's how she acts. The same everytime.
It was cool to see her just let loose. Finally a character that suited her cute looks. I personally think the curls suited her. And to be honest, it just looked like a fun role to play. If this is what she passed up Batman for, I don't blame her.
Don't get me wrong. I LOVED THE DARK KNIGHT. And I was a little bummed, that once again the Batman franchise is switching up actors on us, because that always drives me nuts.
But if Katie Holmes wanted to work with a fun, quirky character for once in her life, by all means, she has my blessing.
Not that I'm presuming she needs my blessing, but... I had to end the sentence somehow!

Well, mr. Snuffles, I'm not sure why others besides me didn't enjoy the part that Katie Holmes played in Mad Money but I can tell you my opinion. I thought her acting in this role was really bad. I mean, I know it's a comedy and comedies supposed to be funny.. But this was just bad acting. Her role didn't suite he. Personally I think Katie should continue playing the "girl next door" because basicly, I think she is.

Katie was looking cute and girly again i almost couldn't believe it was a 2008 movie cuz these days katie looks more grown up when she's out with Tom.

It was pleasant to see her this way again...couldn't believe she's a mom too seeing how young she looked in this film.

Not everyone hated her in this movie. I agree with you. I think Katie was adorable and so cute in this movie. This was the most fun I had seeing a movie this summer. I left feeling really good and smiling..this was a very entertaining movie for me with everyone I love (Queen Latifah, Diane Keaton).

I usually find her shocking to watch (she was the worst part of Batman Begins) but in this I have to say I rather enjoyed her performance. She was funny and funky and was a lot of fun!

I enjoyed her in this role as well. I thought she was seemed young and funny, yet had a really wonderful heart. I liked her character.

If you like her in other non-girl-next-door types of roles, have you seen The Gift? It was released in 2000 and I really loved it (it's a thriller).

I really liked Katie's character in this movie too. I used to be a big fan of hers, but since she became Kate-Bot Cruise, not so much. I was good to see her playing a cute, light-hearted part.
