Gimme Mongol any time

Compare this with Mongol which had a slightly lower budget and plays out in the same century, in a similar world, and you'll see how much lamer Arn is. The photography, the fighting, the rhythm, above all the ability to *show* things instead of having the characters tell you everything in lines blatantly aimed at the audience - Mongol beats the Arn movies on every count. But then, Mongol wasn't based on a novel that half the target audience had already read, but on a real historical person -Genghis Khan - and his march to world domination, of which we know just about enough to give the space for a good story

At the audition I had to karaoke to "Smoke On The Water". I was 45. A very lonely experience.
