The first message:Win Golden Berlin Bear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so proud as a Chinese people!

reply

as a chinese, i think it's good news if any chinese film won anything in the international award, but the thing is:
these sort of films normally don't get much attention let alone success in domestic market, it's a sad that will discourage more quality low budget film coming out of china.
second thing is the majority of the non-chinese still categorised chinese films as kung fu movie or vice versa. Given a lack of commercial success of non-kung fu chinese movies outside china, only relying on these art house chinese movies won't change the perception in the long run.
anyway, horay we won!!!

sorry i wasn't listening

I'm going to get this and take a peak, on account more of Harry T Young's review than the Berlin Golden Bear (those germans sometimes throw me off with what they praise...)

Because you sounded so happy about the award in Berlin, let me say that I recently watched the film and loved it very much, so here's my very belated congratulations to you for a very fine piece of filmmaking!

I just posted a comment on another thread, I don't expect hundreds of replies, I'm sad to say, but perhaps you'd like to read it and comment on it. I would appreciate it.

What a piece of trash. She leaves her husband because he's sick? That's some great woman, glorifying human shallowness.

That's nothing compared to the way you seem to be glorifying your own shallow-ness by bashing the (realistic) premise of the movie.

She doesn't abandon her husbdand you idiot - that's the point of the movie. And it's brilliantly done.

Wow, what a profound opinion about a film you haven't even seen (neither have I so far, it will be released here only in August). You might at least have taken the trouble to do some reading about the details before flinging your so insightful spoilt-little-girl trash on the board, if that isn't asking too much of you?

The film follows Tuya (Yu Nan, who has worked with the director on several previous occasions), a woman in remote Mongolia whose husband Baoter has been crippled, leaving her to care for their children and support the family single-handed. Despite the help of Shenge, a kind-hearted though unfortunate neighbour whose own wife has a nasty habit of running off with other men, it soon becomes clear that she cannot keep this up, and she makes the difficult decision to look for a new husband, though one who will agree not only to care for her, but also for poor Baoter.

May I ask, MISTER Jinx, why you call me and idiot? Would you idiot kindly take the trouble to either read the posts correctly or/and learn how to click the right reply button? Seems I keep asking too much of people on this thread.

Hi Rosabel - I quoted you coz I agreed with you calling the other dude an idiot for their silly comment! No offence meant... surely not to you!

But now we have an even more serious issue... you're calling ME an idiot. And that ain't right. The level of overall general idiocy is rising. Coz now I've got to call YOU an idiot, not just in retaliation for having called ME an idiot but because you didn't figure that my original idiot comment was not for YOU but for HIM. LOL :-)

And now that we've all called each other an idiot we can go forth in peace :-)

Sorry about the nitpicking, my dear Jinx, but you weren't quoting me at all, but just clicking mindlessly my reply button, consequently your post including the "idiot" was addressed to me, whether it was your intention or not, and the person you really meant has no idea at all of your favorable opionon of her because she is not aware of any reply to her oh-so-insightful post. See? It's that easy.

And for what it's worth, it's my very first time someone on imdb called me an idiot and I therefore jumped on the chance to return the endearment because as yet I never called anybody an idiot myself, but since calling each other idiots is good old imdb tradition, the occasion was too good to be missed. :)

Of course I knew you didn't mean me and were just behaving like some gormless little newbie, hehe, so if you want your message to finally reach the right addressee, you'll still have to reply to the right person, so go ahead!

Regards, Rosabel :)

Hi! I undid the dramatic error... so now we can both un-idiot each other and love in harmony. Whislt we are at it we can delete all our 'idiot' posts... this lovely film has only two topics: and it's a pity that one has become an 'idiot' thread by two people who don;t really mean it (though that other poster really IS an idiot :-) )
