1. In the end of the movie, did Pingguo steal the money? She was putting them in a ziploc bag. I know they got wet because Lin Dong left the envelope of money under running water in the sink earlier that day. Or did he give the money to her?

2. Was it implied that something happened between Xiao Mei, the wife's friend, and An Kun, the husband? They ended up having dinner at his place (after seen getting together by Lin Dong!). She was obviously drunk and he was drinking beer. They were both touched by the song playing on her phone. The scene was cut short it seems. Later in the movie, she was shown in the morgue. Was he perhaps responsible for her death?

3. Was it also implied that Lin Dong and Pingguo had something going on after she was rejected by her husband (after revealing to her that he was indeed the real father of the baby)? She came on to Lin Dong but he resisted her and ended up just giving her a hug (she was crying at that point). If this is all there is to it, why did Lin Dong's wife leave him? Was it because earlier on, Lin Dong told her that he was going to divorce her and marry Pingguo?

These things weren't clear in the movie. But I suppose they were left ambiguous, just in keeping with the moral ambiguity demonstrated by the characters.

1. Yes, she did. She took off with the baby and the money. The reason she cooked for him, I presume, is to do one small nice thing for him before leaving. Chinese women from the countryside will typically do that before they run out on you.

2. This part is left open, but I don't think so, personally. And certainly An Kun had nothing to do with her death. Prostitution is a dangerous business, and people get killed doing it. Further, the two girls say earlier in the film that they are "sisters," and this is a serious thing in China. For a girl to sleep with her "sister"'s husband is not too common. There is honor even among the lower class.

3. Lin Dong's wife had just had enough of his crap, it seems. She came onto him because she had no other options, it seemed. The wife had caught Lin Dong spying on Pingguo in the shower, he raped her before, she lived with them, and the wife thought there was something going on when there really wasnt. Besides, she's a middle-aged Chinese woman from Guangdong. They are typically VERY interested in money and assets.
