The last scene(food on the table)

Who did she cook for? That didn't look her place(so not her husband), so I am guessing either Mr. or Mrs. Lin. Since she had a nice cry with Mrs. Lin I am thinking it was for her.

I believe it was for the boss (Mr Lin). Don't think it was the Mrs because Mrs Lin was shown rolling her own suitcase away - she only stopped to say goodbye to Pingguo on her way out. She'd already told Ping's husband that she had a new address, so she wasn't living there with Lin anymore. I think Ping's last look as she got ready to leave was probably in the direction of the bedroom, where Mr Lin was probably still asleep or something. I'm guessing she got up early, made his breakfast, packed her stuff, and scrammed with the baby before he woke up.

But was there a meaning of two fried eggs [eggs as in ova?]

reply

The Chinese word for "fried egg" is "jiandan". But "jiandan" can also mean "simple". Which means she chose the simple life (with her husband the window cleaner) over the rich, which is a constant in Chinese society, as a husband should ideally be "gao fu shuai": tall, rich and handsome.
