Take a director trying to make the next CRASH, a bunch of A list celebrities trying to win an oscar, and put them around a senseless tragedy which "connects
them. Then make a senseless movie. I guess they were trying to make some thought provoking "study in character development" which translated into a movie with about a bunch of stiffs with boring and depressing and anticlimatic lives. This movie blows.
I wish I could disagree with you because I wanted to like this movie, but it was indeed pretentious and boring.
To be fair, I thought CRASH was pretentious and contrived as well. These "ensemble" movies are a mixed bag, sometimes they work like with TRAFFIC and MAGNOLIA and then sometimes we get this...
