Anne poured the coke to "cover up" because her dad urinated from fear.
She wanted people to think that he died bravely, not being scared.

Some mistakes are too much fun to make only once.

She did that so no one would no that he peed his pants and wasn't really brave like she told everyone

to try to hide the fact that her dad was a coward and pissed himself. I thought it was silly, since when people die (and maybe even if they almost die) they lose control of their bladders anyway. so the net effect was nothing, the pee would've been there either way. yeah I get it was symbolic, but it also has to make sense.

the doctor drugging his wife was by far more confusing.

You may be right from the point of view of a person who knows that, but the girl didn't, so from her point of view it makes sense.

The doctor drugs his wife because after he gives her medication to stop the symptoms, he feels that he is saving her. Many times in the film he has to cope with not being able to save a patient (the victims of the shooting, the old man, etc.) and with his wife, he feels as though he can at least do some good, even if he is the cause to begin with. It's basically just his coping mechanism for the guilt he has.

She didn't think her Dad would die--or at least hoped he wouldn't--so she covered up the fact that he peed himself.

Not symbolic . . . the character is a child in a situation where her father was shot dead. Your logic is true in itself, but not rooted in the "reality" of the film being discussed.

And truthfully, most of us have "heard" folks lose control of their bladder, but most of us haven't been there when someone we love is murdered and it actually happens (if it actually does) . . . a child feeling shame at her father's non-heroic death is an imminently believable story in my opinion.

Like you wouldn't have peed yourself if you were in the same situation??? The dad wasn't a coward, he was just afraid for his life as anyone would be with a gunman shoving a gun in his face. Dakota didn't say the dad tried to stop the gunman in an attempt to be brave, just that he was brave & sullying his memory did nothing beneficial. Jimmy was a coward, he hid under the table & then hid out in his room & hid from his family in general. Just because he didn't pee himself doesn't make him any braver than the dad.

Jimmy was a 15 year old kid. Not a coward.
