I pray that this will come to the United States at some point in the near future, as I'd love to see some of this fascinating material....Enjoy UK fans!

I've never heard of this show but I'm thinking of buying it (when the price drops considerably, of course) based on the premise....does anyone know if it's as similar as it appears to be to TRU CALLING, which I consider a highly intelligent and underrated show, also about time-traveling?

reply

I've never seen "Tru Calling" so I can't make comparisons, but if you really enjoy smart, well-written, character driven time travel TV shows, then I highly recommend you watch "Journeyman". You won't regret it, I guarantee it! :)

Tru travels back the day to re-live it
like in 7Days and others

Journeyman seems to travel to a place for a reason
not sure if it was visitors from the future messing with the timeline
or just 'Time Travellers Wife' scenarios

Will they make this available in the US? I absolutely LOVE this show. I've seen it on Hulu about 5 times, and would love to own it on DVD.

It was distributed in the U.K. by Fremantle Media. They may have either the UK rights or the complete global rights. The show is 7 years old now and if it hasn't appeared elsewhere, it is likely it never will. I have purchas a few other U.S. programmes where the U.S. Networks have sold off the rights to 3rd parties. I managed to purchase a similar programme "Day Break" which was cancelled and became a victim of the 2007 writers' strike. Other cancelled US TV programmes I have bought on DVD include "Life on Mars" (US version), "SouthLAnd", "Saving Grace" - all well written US network TV series, requiring thought & concerntration - an alien concept for network TV execs who are looking for massive ratings immediately rather than slow-burn programmes like this that take time to build an audience. You can generalise, but you can't avoid the fact that couch-surfing morons who gouge them selves on reality TV with a TV remote control bouncing between channels every few seconds. I used to be involved in collating and aggregating TV ratings data and it doesn't take much to picture the changing landscape of TV viewers these days. They are devolving into chimps. I grab whatever quality programmes i can these days as I no longer trust network and subscription tv networks anymore. The Netflix business model of creating their own content on their own terms to meet viewers' on demand desire will over time, create the threshold shift needed to satisfy adult viewers. I loved the fact that I could watch what i want, when I want.
