"There Will Be Blood," "No Country For Old Men," "Castaway" and "Moscow, Belgium" - Just to name a few. Movies with TERRIBLE endings! Why? These movies have me on the edge of my seat - and then nothing. Movies seem like they just run out of gas.
shareI guess they're films without big, tidy, all-questions-answered Hollywood endings - which makes me like them more. Rather than having all loose ends tied up with a bow, I was left wondering...why did she go back to Johnny... did she make a good decision? Was she going to be happy? Why didn't she cut both those goofs loose? It seems more interesting to me to be left with something to ponder - the film sits in my brain longer...and it's a lot more like real life.
