CGI & Practical Effects

The first time I had watched this movie in the cinemas back in 2012 the darker tone and the shortage of spider man acrobatics in the first half of the movie didn't really impress me. But I re-watched the movie again last month and noticed that the first half of the movie looked good too. I went on to youtube to find that massive sets and practical stunts of spider man swinging across the bridge were filmed.
Real wall crawling, parkour and rope stunts were an integral part of the movie. The complete shift to CGI in the 2nd half lost some consistency but made sense as spider man gets better and more flexible as time passes. My absolute favourite is the last 1 minute where he pursues a car chase. This movie did have amazing VFX and practical effects.

Did you know about the extensive use of practical effects in this movie?

Yeah, I've seen the making of this movie. Spidey felt more real than we'd ever seen him before, like they used stuntmen instead of CGI whenever possible. It's a shame that the second movie didn't retain this vibe.

And in Civil War, almost every scene with Spidey is CG. It still looks good, though.
