Anyone hate the way Simon's name is pronouced in the English dub?

I purchased the complete English dub just last week, August 18 (the Australian release date). Speaking as someone who had previously seen most of the series in fan-subbed Japanese, I fell in love with the show and the characters.

For the most part, my awe at this anime has carried over to the English dub, and I think that with the exception of Kyle Hebert (he makes Kamina sound far older than someone who - according to ancilliary material - is an 18-year old, and I'm generally annoyed that he seems to use the EXACT SAME VOICE for every character he plays), the English voices suit their characters perfectly. I'm sure my jaw wasn't the only one that hit the floor upon realising Steven Blum provided the voice of the effeminate male mechanic Leeron. (I thought it was Vic Mignogna at first, to be honest).

However, the one thing I find most irksome about the English dub is the way in which Simon's name is pronounced. I know it probably sounds like such a silly thing to get annoyed by, but I can't help it. As we all know, "Simon" is typicaly pronouced "SIGH-mon". However, the Japanese dub pronounces it as "Shi-MON". This, I can understand because it's a completely different language, but I absoloutely loathe that the English dub pronouces the name as "SEE-moan".

Frankly, that pronouciation left me fighting the urge to face-palm whenever I heard it in the first few episodes. I've become somewhat more accustomed to it, but I would honestly have prefered the traditional English pronounciation. I have no doubt the folks at Bandai probably wanted to stay as close to the Japanese version as possible, but in my opinion, doing that only goes so far before it gets ludicrious.

Hearing "Simon" pronouced as "SEE-moan" in English sounds completely retarded to me, and I was wondering if anyone else thought the same?

We all have our problems, some just hide it better.

LOL

When it aired on Ani-Mondays there was a guy on the GFAQs AS / AM board in the "Official Discussion Topic" who referred to him as 'C-mon' (I myself spelled it 'C-Moon' once or twice after seeing it).

Just imagine like the latin-based spelling / pronunciation (Simone) and it shouldn't bother you.

Damned if you, damned if you don't. If they pronounce it like the Japanese, people say it sounds weird in English. Pronounce it like the English, people say it doesn't match the original. With all these weird anime names, See-mon is just fine. Kamina sounds weird compared to Kamino(from Star Wars). "Kah-mee-nah", versus "Kuh-mee-noh". I remember similar complaints about Eureka(pronounced in both Japanese and English as "Eh-oo-reh-kah") from Eureka 7.

Kamina reminds me more of Kaneda (Akira) whenever I heard it, and they're pronounced similarly, so I don't get that. But yeah, Simon bugs me.
