Still trying to like the second half as much as I should

Maybe the super-hyper insane ridiculousness of the last half of the show requires more time for my mind to process.

reply

Just let it marinate on you a bit. The epicness will kick in eventually.

"And now I will kill you till you die from it."

The art style and animation should help you out.

I haven't watched it all yet, and I suppose they have a plan for taking things where they do, but I hate it, when writers try to present a provocative turn of events as in some way inevitable and logical when it's quite simply nuts. There is no reason at all for the trial, it's completely gratuitous and without an explanation that any sane human, or court with the exact same charges involved or even persons with the same concerns for that matter, would accept. And as usual, in order to make it work, they don't let anyone say the right things or take reasonable actions and let anything happen to themselves or others so as not to disturb the prescribed "provocative" rails of the plot, which are badly explained in themselves, but are somehow necessary for new conditions or for getting a point across.

It doesn't work as the writers might imagine such things to work. They might think there is a point behind it, like showing how things in life might also not always take a satisfying direction and might be quite complicated and provocative in truth, but it's an all too common phenomenon that in order to make a twist like that work, it's doubly provocative by also being explained and presented in absolutely crappy ways. And if there is in some cases a fan outcry about it, there would be confusion about why it's provocative, and producers and writers would have an easy way out by referring to their "original" and "courageous" vision and idea of making something provocative, although that is not at all the point, and there are always some fans who find themselves incapable of differentiating between what is part of the fiction and what is badly executed in the fiction and see it all open to interpretation although that's just dull and meaningless indecision on their part....

reply

Christ, what a ramble.
I could barely even grasp the pathetic point you were trying to make.

reply

I couldn't find the point in all of that.

reply

Clearly, his point: How many times can I write the word "provocative" in a post?

***

Nobody talks like that in real life.
But they ought to.

I agree with you. I wasn't liking the show much before, the lack of backbone and good characters, logic really threw me off, way too much nonsense for my poor mind. Still liked SOME battles, though.

But the second part? Holy *beep* That was unbearable. I usually like time skips in manga/anime (love to know how's the new design in characters and changes), but in this anime i just couldn't find anything redeemable. I usually like good fights, but a terrible plotless anime just don't offer any real thrill, since you know the battle is just going to be the MC screaming his way to victory.

I had high hopes for this anime, terrible mistake in my part.

reply

First time watching it I skipped so much of part 2. Second and third time watching it, I like the second part more and more.
