What is Beth Macyntire's perfume?

It's obviously a Chanel perfume but I can't possibly read the label: http://41.media.tumblr.com/ce4461687c99d4dd9adb46a2eab6ee30/tumblr_npv6np9IQ31ryxb20o1_1280.jpg

Is there a way to find out?

You see a 5??? I can't see anything! There are other Chanel perfumes in that bottle also. Judging by the color I would say No 5 also, but later on in the hospital scene it looks more green but that could be the lighting. Does anyone know?

Chanel No. 19 is green and comes in the same bottle, the parfum that is.

Chanel #19 EDP, EDC and parfum are all very pale green. Since I've worn the fragrance now and then over the years, I own 3 bottles.

Had a bottle out on my dresser when I came across this thread!

That's definitely No. 5. I worked the Chanel counter enough at Macy's to know No. 5 anywhere.

I recognize it too but the label and proportion of the bottle look kinda weird to me.

A lot of the cosmetic packaging had to be changed for the film. The red lipstick, for instance, has been confirmed by MAC representatives to be their shade Dubonnet. Controversial films like Black Swan often have to deal with packaging changes. Brands can sometimes hesitate to be shown in controversial films. Other possibility is that Aronofski simply couldn't afford to show the brand name.

Do they have to pay though? Isn't that freedom of expression?

Relax everyone. I'm betting on No 5, the black bottle matches the black swan. The film uses a lot,of color symbols

It's Chanel No. 5, no doubt. Not only is it one of the most classic of perfumes and timeless, something a ballerina would use.

reply

Several Chanel perfumes come in that bottle.

You're right about that:

But if they now have chosen Chanel, they wouldn't go for No 19, 32, Cour de Russie or Beige. I'd need to see an enlargement of the picture though, can't swear it's No 5, but I still think it is.

Why not 19?? It looks kinda green. But I guess it's impossible to know.

Hi again, I just found a great article, not only about the perfume, but also about the movie itself, and your topic:

Beth's bottle in all likelihood contains Chanel no 5. Why? Because it is a famous and even legendary perfume--perfect for a princess. Nina believes that by following Beth's example, she can become Leroy's new "little princess". Judging by her mother's silence on the matter, it seems that Nina does not really wear the perfume, except perhaps for her visit to Mr. Leroy's office, where she asks for the lead role of the Swan Queen in the upcoming production of Swan Lake.

Interesting article, and I agree with what she says, although I wouldn't blame the mother for not noticing it since the no 5 parfum has like zero projection and longevity, but she's still right, Nina doesn't wear it anywhere it seems, I guess it's more like a totem.

The content of the bottle is clearly yellow, and because there's so little left, it looks like it's almost dark yellow. And the bottle is obviously of non-colored glass.

And about your comment about blaming her mother, there's no one blaming her mother, there's no judgement. It's just an explanation that she probably didn't. Because if she did wear it, Nina's mother would most likely comment on that.
