Basically sophie (the pregnant woman) and her fiance/boyfriend rick ran a talent agency that was passed down to sophie by her father who passed away. Rick and her best friend melissa, who is also a really good actress is signed to her talent agency, have been having an affair for several months.
Melissa tells rick to end it with sophie because she feels guilty about the situation. He breaks up with sophie to be with melissa and he opens his own talent agency, taking almost all of his and sophies clients and the receptionist.
She has a gay best friend who is a doctor. A close friendship with a woman, estelle, who was her fathers mistress. And a dysfunctional relationship with her mother.
