Epic story?

I'm a rather new Final Fantasy fan; after about six years of playing I've completed FF 7 through 10, 12 and I'm now busy with 10-2. I tried 6 but gave that up because a)it was too difficult, b)I couldn't get into the story and c)it's a rather old game and it shows.

So basically I'm looking for a new experience, something with what I consider to be an epic storyline like FF 7, 9 and 10.

I've seen "Rogue Galaxy" lying around in shops but don't know whether it's what I'm looking for. I'm not much of an RPG player - I like these games because of their adventure game qualities (the fighting and customizing of characters I see as necessary evils).

So any opinions?

The story here is probably the worst part of the game. I'm about 10 hours in and have yet to find a real reason to be fighting. So far, it's just a journey without a purpose.

Still, the fighting system and upgrading weapons and abilities is so addicting that you'll rarely be bored. Plus, it has really random sways of difficulty to keep you on your toes.

Pick one up used for under 20 bucks. It's worth it.

I know this is months late, but Kingdom Hearts. Definitely Kingdom Hearts, assuming you haven't played it.
