Even though the movie was a joke on sensationalized endings to 70's films (that are illogical) - we first got the idea when it happened to 3 officers in St. Lucie County years ago - and for a long time; the officers were required to wear gloves on the beat.
Your saliva carries the virus and; if it's a sealed bite - can transmit the disease easier than sexual transmission - as long as oxygen doesn't come heavily into play :-)
(Not to mention - the killer's mouth would already have abrasions - as he'd been thrown into a table which breaks, etc.)
