Landmark Theatres is showing it as part of a film festival showcasing the 2006 Academy Award nominees. Go to www.landmarktheatres.com and www.magpictures.com to find out if it's playing near you.

A theater near my house is playing all of the acadamy award nominated live-action shorts and the animated shorts, which I went to go see today, but Lifted was not included in the showing. The other four nominated shorts were shown, along with several that were considered but were not nominated, but Lifted was nowhere to be seen.

It looks like Pixar is keeping a short leash on this one until it's released with Ratatoulli because I've been looking everywhere for it and haven't had any luck. It's weird that they're able to be considered for this year's awards when it doesn't technically come out until this summer. I know for feature length films they have until the end of December to get it out if they want to be considered but apparently it's a little different for shorts.

It played unannounced in a theatre in Pasadena in 2006 to qualify for the Academy nomination. Except for a single screening at the Motion Picture Academy with the other nominated shorts right before the Acaemy Awards, and the Chicago Film Festival where Gary Rydstrom appeared, it hasn't been released so as not to steal any of its thunder when it plays with RATATOUILLE. (Coincidentally, the opening day of RATATOUILLE and LIFTED happens to be Gary's birthday -- nice present!)

I saw the sneak of "Ratatouille" last night, and both "Lifted" and a very early teaser for "Wall-E" were shown. "Lifted" was a HOWL! I hadn't laughed that hard since I'd seen "For The Birds" at SIGGRAPH.

Costco has it for under $20 as part of a collection of 13 shorts with total running time of under 1 hour.
