How Did This Get Nominated?

All the other shorts screened in various festivals through Magnolia-owned "Shorts International" but I can't find a public screening of Lifted anywhere. I'm pissed because it's the only Socar nominated film I haven't seen. That's 57/58, and to get so close and not see all of them because Pixar had to bend the rules really frustrates me.

i saw 22 seconds of it and it looked really funny
hope it will be showned before Ratatouille at the theatre or something
or maybe on the DVD :P

I'm not asking about the quality of the movie. I'm sure it's great considering it's Pixar, and they are always present in some form in the Oscar nominees. I meant how did it get nominated given Academy eligibility requirements. Showing a 22 second clip on the internet doesn't qualify a movie for an Oscar.

It also played as an unannounced preview in Pasadena in 2006, which made it eligible per the rules of playing in L.A. county.

The film was screened during the Chicago International Film Festival last year.

It played before Ratatouille at the sneak preview this weekend. Both were marvelous. Lifted was hilarious in a very subtle way.

yes, you can see it with Ratatouille in wide release. It's fantastic, my fav pixar short.

really? I thought it was boring, repetitive, predictable... the idea was okay but they had nowhere to go with it... what's happening to Pixar?

Glad to see someone else who isn't giving it glowing praise. I laughed at the beginning when he hit his head on the wall, chuckled when you saw the massive panel of controls, chuckled again when the supervisor got out his pencil, and that was it. There were no other jokes in the rest of the time, just lots of repetition.

Gee, I wonder what will happen at the end. Oh, there's a surprise! YAWN!!
