I just watched it....

I just finished watching the pilot and I can see why it's never going to see the light of day. It's basically a carbon copy of the original with different actors (except Richard Ayaode who still plays Moss) The sets are the same and the script is 95% the same. In short, it's pointless. I could understand a remake if it was made differently to suit Americans but its just a mimic of the original. The Office remains the only American remake of an English show worth watching.

Let's be honest here. This pilot showed how 'talented' Joel Mchale really is. 'Jen' wasn't any good either. And the boss, noooooo...

Joel McHale is great and i think he's excellent in 'Community' too but he was no better in this version of IT crowd than Chis O'Dowd in the original, it was the same script.
Jen and Denholm were awful!

Just finished watching this, and I cannot believe it was ever made. It is literally a shot-for-shot remake of the British original. I am stunned that anyone other than the original writers and director got any credit. What did they do?

The pilot was greenlighted by NBC; it isnt an 'official' episode.

It's quite common for remake pilots that are delivered only to the studio to be carbon copy of the originals, merely to show how the actors would play the same parts and how the show would work weekly.

The actual show and first episode would have been 'original'.

No, the real problem were the actors; Joel McHale was awful and so bland as Roy, Richard was redundant and 'Jen' was so fake.

They got the casting wrong and it sank the show.

Umm a lot of the time if not most of the time the pilot IS the first episode. This pilot clearly was meant to be the first episode. Does no one remember that the first episode of the american office was virtually identical to the UK first episode
