That should be of no surprise to anyone. GOT has been the most respected show for the past decade. It's a shame that season 8 couldn't have been just as great as the other seasons.

All this shows us is that wards shows are as dishonest as everything else that involves too much money and power..
That is why I never watch any award shows anymore. The actual best rarely wins.
shareOf course season 8 didn't deserve any awards, but the way these awards shows work is that they save most of the big awards for the final season of a multi-year TV saga, or the final film in a franchise. So if "GoT" got the big gong this year, instead of a year when the show was actually good, it's because there's an unofficial policy of waiting until the end of the show/franchise and then giving awards for the whole thing - even if the awards are officially labeled as being for that one year.
So that's how the big Hollywood awards work, but something tells me that that policy won't do "Avengers: Endgame" during the upcoming Awards Season.
I learned my lesson about award shows (and quit) back when they gave "best fight scene" to The Craft over a Jackie Chan Movie. Never touched another one.
