Won't even bother watching series 1-7 now

Those two fuckin talentless tards ruined this once-great show with 6 woeful and illogical episodes, now I don't even have the enthusiasm to revisit the previous seven series.

It's like grieving for a family member.

FOUR woeful and illogical episodes. Everything was going fine in the first two episodes, no-one complained about those.

reply

I thought they were boring, especially after all that long wait for the expectedly explosive finale!

reply

Agreed, they were too slow and nothing significant happened. When there was the long wait between seasons and there was only 6 episodes there was no time to waste and they wasted almost 2 hours out of about 8 total hours. The end should have been closer to how breaking bad's last season went, once the gas peddle was down it did not slow down until it was over. That is what should have happened here. But no, 2 completely wasted boring episodes. I walked away from both going, "that's it?" Most people thought that The 'not so' Long Night episode was the breaking point. I think it was the wasted first 2 episodes that really hurt the last season.

reply

I agree. My interest in re-watching the series flatlined after season 7. Even if they planned to destroy the show they could not have done any worse.

.

Agreed, this was a series that was very dependent on how it ended. The end we got killed any rewatch value. For me it killed all interest in the Song of Ice and Fire IP. Sad, was a waste of build up I have been invested in for 10 years (since I read the first book).

I usually try to be optimistic and look for the good...but unfortunately you are entirely correct..

If it had ended (maybe not the way I wanted... BUT) with prophecy and character development not all being completely ignored then the first thing I would've done after the finale is a rewatch.
Now I don't know if I'll ever care to...Ever..

But nothing meant anything..not any of the prophecy from Jon's true heritage to Winter is Coming and the Night King to Jaime's redemption to Cersi being a force to be reckoned with and dying to Vary's getting stupid and Melisandre forgetting how to do witchy things to Ayra forgetting her faceless skills or even the point of Bran being the three eyed raven (or a tree).
I could've gone with Daerneys Mad Queen (foreshadowed from the beginning) but they didn't care to even make that work.
They made it all so meaningless. There's nothing to rewatch for.
And it's sad.

I'm just appreciative of the lesson: Leave when a party is still going strong.

But indeed, this show should have ended with Jon's death and keep us speculating forever.

reply

I recently watched season 6, 7 and went straight into season 8. It was better than when I originally watched them because there wasn't that 2 year wait between seasons. I think the first 3 episodes should be considered as episodes 8-10 of season 7.

reply

1-4 were the reason so many loved the show you should watch. Honestly I don’t think there was an easy way to end this show. Season 8 was bad, but it was going downhill for a couple years. Anyway, this really wasn’t the kind of story that needed a finale with big battles and ultimate victors declared. I think even Martin himself doesn’t know where to take all this
