So what could replace it now that it's done?
Dungeons and Dragons?
shareThe cartoon version has the same quality writing as S8.
shareEverything about that cartoon is superior to GOT. Check out the live action D & D from Brazil on Youtube here...

I have some hope for the "His Dark Materials" show coming to HBO, hopefully they can do a better job th han the "Golden Compass" movie from a few years ago.
It has potential, we'll have to see about the execution. And whether HBO can keep the showrunners on the ball this time.
Thank you, we agree on something. I love the HDM books, and I really hate the way they neutered the Golden Compass movie of all its anti-organised religious messaging. I only hope this TV show does better, but it will need a huge budget for all the Daemons alone.
I dont hold out a lot of hope that they'll put the religious issues front and center, as that might cost them viewers. But much though I enjoyed hearing that message going out to the mainstream, I cant say it was the strongest part of the books. It actually felt preachy at times!
I also wonder if they'll change the ending, which was IMHO a bit weak.
What was your favourite of the three books? Mine has to be The Subtle Knife, I just LOVED the idea of what it could do, and Will and Lyra discussing their worlds and Lyra even visiting Will's world (our world).
You know, it's been so long I cant say right now. I really should re-read them.
shareOh please HBO don't ruin it. The reason some books are great is because of the storyline and when you start changing it or politicising it then you ruin what made it great in the first place.
That's one reason GOT was so successful, in that it (mostly) stuck to the storyline, warts and all.
Amazon have taken on the Wheel Of Time series which if done right, will be every bit as good as GOT was. I hope they don't ruin that with political correctness too or people who think they can write the story better.
Netflix's "The Witcher."
shareYou mean, the Diversitarian version of Witcher by Netflix? It's supposed to be a fantasy version of Poland, and however many main characters are casted Pakistani, black and all diverse. Most white males will be usual evil psychos and it seems they're gonna make the Witcher himself some kind of SJW white knight alter-ego.
shareI think it could have the same political intrigue, but I hope it has much more fantasy, is gritty, and doesn't try to replicate GOT. The other series that comes to mind would be Amazon's LOTR series.
shareThey should do a third season of Rome, which was basically historical GOT!
shareRome was great. Maybe a King Arthur serial that doesn't suck?
shareNever gonna happen in the current PC climate I'm afraid, I remember when Game of Thrones first came out, at the same time I was more interested in another show that aired a few weeks earlier its name was Camelot, God that was an awful forgettable show!
I’d love to see a HBO adaption of Le Morte d'Arthur with the look and feel of Boorman’s Excalibur or a faithful adaption of Bernard Cornwell’s Warlord Chronicles.
I recommended it in another thread, but anyway. This one, first season airing right now and really good:
