One of the worst final episodes ever?

The final episode of GOT makes the final episode of Seinfeld look like the final episode of MASH.

Haven’t been this disappointed since the final ep of Dexter. And was really hoping to never feel this disappointed about a show again.

reply

yea it would have been fine if its a comedy

Dexter might have been disappointing but at least it ended with the possibility of Dexter reuniting with his son and girlfriend at a later date, probably written that way to allow a possible revisit of the show... GoT just killed itself with stupidity. How the hell did anyone know Jon killed Dany? Dany's body was taken by the dragon away from everyone and no one saw him kill her so why did everyone think he did it? Tyrion would have never been allowed to speak to the group as he did because we all saw that the unsullied were hell bent on following the wishes of Dany regardless of whether she was even present so they would have already killed him just like they killed the captured soldiers especially since her body was taken away and she wasn't around to tell them not to kill him which she was never going to do.... it was just bad illogical writing... which was pretty much the entire season.

reply

Because Jon is so dumb and honorable, he confessed to it, just like daddy Ned would have done.

reply

My god....what a disappointment.

reply

why was it a dissapointment?
what did you expect the ending to be?

reply

Something well written and coherent. Like all previous seasons had been

reply

Ok, but I honestly thought it was coherent and fit the theme of the story and RR Martin wrote the ending, so maybe you can be specific what you wanted the ending to be? This show was never written to be what we expected or wanted to be.

reply

It wasn’t about what I wanted or expected. More to do with the fact that Jon’s story arc of him being a Targaryen was ultimately meaningless. He was sent to the nights watch as his punishment, but what is the purpose of the watch? No white walkers and a friendly alliance with the wildlings. Bran was made king based of Tyrion’s speech, no more. 8 seasons of wondering who will end up claiming the throne and it is decided by a speech. Speaking of the throne, it was literally burnt to nothing, so no one even ended up claiming the famous iron throne. I’m unsure what I wanted as an ending, I like to be surprised and shocked, but I found this ending to be sorely lacking in quality writing and decision making.

The Targaryen regime was doomed once Dany decided it was about dictatorship. Dany had some right ideas but she was the wrong choice as implementer of them. Jon seems to have forsaken his opportunity by believing he was meant to serve Dany. But maybe those events had to happen to leave open the possibility of a genuine new era under Bran. He was waiting for events to slot into place so that he could bring his wisdom to the government of Westeros. No-one knew this but him though.
