There aren’t Seven kingdoms anymore

King’s Landing is ash and rubble. There are no leaders in Dorne, the Vale (except that weird kid), Riverrun, Casterly Rock, or Highgarden, so what is going on those places? Anarchy? They have no leaders to “take the knee” and enforce the Iron Throne. The whole kingdom system is broken. Westeros needs a revolution not a new monarch.

The show runners have abandoned that part of the story. We used to know at all time who was ruling each kingdom. Since the end of season 6, this went out the window .

Same goes for maesters. They used to be essential for communications and administrating castles . Now the show seems to have forgotten all about them. We haven't seen any in years.

We haven't been told what's been happening in at least five out of the seven kingdoms. Sure, Sansa is competently running the North and whoever is doing Robin Arryn's job for him is probably doing the same, but that doesn't mean that chaos reigns everywhere. Lines of succession exist for a reason, so that titles can pass from one person to the next with no argument and no interruption in the established order. Things may have transitioned smoothly in... some of the seven realms of Westeros, especially those where some civil servant type is doing the real governing so it doesn't matter which aristocrat officially holds the title.

Except in the case of the Riverlands, that has GOT to be chaos! With all the thousands of more distant Frey relatives trying to grab the whole ball of wax and the remnants of the Tullys trying to stage a comeback, that's got to be a bad scene.
