They advertised ~90 min run times but it's more like ~60 minutes when you cut out the recap/intro/commentary

Between the recap from last week, the intro, and the INSANELY LONG credits and production commentary at the end, episode run times are maybe 65 minutes.

This may seem like a petty complaint but HBO cited the really long 90 minute run times to quiet the critics who thought stretching out another 6 episode season (instead of just including it with season 7) was nothing but a cash grab.

Does this type of deception bother anybody else?

I agree...they are completely giving us fans the middle-finger all the way around in the final season.

And the recaps are just D&D masturbating each other. Don't you love how the post-talks went from such intense plots that these guys helped us a make a little more sense of it to things like "We thought this shot would look so cool!!".

reply

Yeah, I guess they decided they would sacrafice some of the story they could tell in more episodes/screen time with expensive CGI battles. Last night's episode was good, but it isn't enough to salvage the whole final season.

It's more like 80 minutes. So what? Whether you liked the episodes or not, does ten minutes really make all that much difference?

reply

EP3 thru 6 are 80 minute runtimes with 10 minute commentaries.
