Are we on some Star Wars: Episode 1 (1999) level of disappointment here?

I've never felt so let down by a TV series in my life. The episodes just keep getting worse and worse.

Nah not that bad, Force Awakens bad.

These last episodes should have me wanting me to rewatch them again, their emotion level should be on par with the climax of Return of the King but I was only sad the Hound died and glad Arya Stark didn’t ruin the story by killing everyone important, but the Lannister’s deaths was kinda meh.

I've been experiencing "The Hobbit" levels of disappointment!

I'm giving one more week, before I decide whether it's "Star Wars Prequels" level of disappointment (not that bad), or "The Hobbit" levels (unforgiveable).

reply

At least now there won't be spinoffs

reply

The Star Wars prequels are unforgivably bad and worthy of all the scorn in the world.

The "The Hobbit" trilogy is far, far worse than the "Star Wars" prequel trilogy. The "Star WArs" prequels have some good stuff among the crap, such as the marvelous score and Ian McDiarmuid, while "The Hobbit" is excruciating throughout.

Prequels were not good but competently made and consistent in their logic.

GoT is completely all over the place. Complete disaster. One episode they’re sniping dragons from long distances the next episode they can’t hit anything.

I could go on forever listing legitimate complaints but just look at all the discussions

The biggest disappointment for me is it doesn’t even feel like Game of Thrones anymore.

There’s no emotional weight to any of this, it feels like a checklist of things to do to wrap up the show in 6 episodes. Characters teleport around and do silly things and only stay alive cus plot armour.

The story being told here isn’t unsatisfying, it’s just rushed and sloppy in it’s execution. HBO should have pushed for more episodes and overruled D&D’s ‘we only need six episodes’ rubbish. The fans have made this one of the biggest shows of all time, we deserve better than this. I just get the feeling D&D can’t wait to head over to Lucasfilm and begin their Star Wars trilogy, whereas I and Im sure many others would have happily waited another year if it meant a few more episodes.

I don’t even feel like rewatching the show now considering how thoughtless this whole final season has been.

Agreed. My favorite aspects of the show: character development, dialogue, politics, backstabbing, outwitting, etc. have been non existent. In this most recent episode I forwarded ahead through the cheesie fight/war sequences and there was maybe 15 mins of non filler.

I was hoping there would be some epic twists/turns/clever ways in which some of these characters and their allies obtained power/made their final bid for the iron throne. Instead everything has been dumbed down to the level of a 13 yr old who just wants to watch shit blow up.

Not even with LOST?!!
