I think the Seven Kingdoms are going to split.

I think that neither John or Daenerys are going to sit on the Iron Throne (if it hasn’t been destroyed).

Either both die or Daenerys dies and John rejects the Iron Throne.

Then the Seven Kingdoms split and an uneasy peace is made among them.

Who rules what? Funny that back in season three at the premiere party Nikolaj Coster-Waldau who played Jaime said he wanted it to become a Republic. Looks like that might be happening.

There's no historical precedent for such a thing in this world. If they were going to go that route, you'd think they would have had a group (like the followers of the Lord of Light) advocating for a new form of government to replace the monarchy. The closest thing Jon's experienced before was life with the Free Folk - who are disdainful of almost any authority. Not quite the same.

Those ideas would probably come out of Essos first.

I don’t see a Republic forming now. They are not at that level yet. But I do see the Kingdom of Westeros splitting. Each of the Seven Kingdoms becomes it’s own Kingdom.

It would be like what happened after the collapse of the Roman Empire or the Soviet Union.

Whether or not the other kingdoms fall in line I definitely don't see the North submitting to the Mad Queen's rule. Especially not after Arya rides back and tells Sansa what happened. Dani's threats against his homeland may finally be what turns Jon against her.

I think Jon changed sides in the middle of the battle, after Daenerys started raining fire on the surrendering city. He drove his sword into one of her soldiers who was attacking a helpless woman. (It could have been a one-off, but I doubt it. The symbolism in the show has become awfully heavy-handed.)

Jon never tolerated looting, rape, and murder by men under his command. I think he would've killed that guy regardless of any atrocities on Dani's behalf. But yeah - there's definitely going to be a falling out when Jon confronts her about what she's done. A line has been crossed now that he'll never be okay with.

That soldier who was about to rape that woman was a Lannister soldier. He was wearing the lion, not the dragon. Just rewatched it and it was a Lannister soldier.

reply

Jon probably would've done the same thing no matter who the guy was fighting for though.
