Amazing...The number of people who need a road map to watch a show....

Seriously, I can't believe the number of complaints from people watching this show. It is not like the books anymore, they decided to stuff everything into a few episodes so of course there will be many things we will not see play out.

Do we really need scenes of the fleets sailing to their various ports? How much time wasted would that be?? And scenes of every goodbye made? Every scene explained in detail seems to be what people need nowadays.

How sad. No imagination left in this world anymore.

Wow.

I think what upsets people is that for the first six seasons, the pacing was much different. The show went into much more detail and there were more nuances to the story. Journeys took time, things developed at a more natural pace. Now in order to complete the series in 70 episodes, everything has been condensed.

In season 7 and 8 it's as if someone pressed the fast-forward button.

reply

But you knew that was going to happen when HBO announced the season would only be 6 episodes.

I don’t think the writers wanted only 6 eps...

reply

The showrunners didn't want 8 seasons, but after 6, they had 13 episodes mapped out to finish the story. HBO wanted an infinite number of seasons. So they came to some agreement where they split the last 13 over 2 seasons.

I think it's because GRRM's original plan was to age the characters quite a bit before these last two seasons. So they planned the story with that "fast forward" in mind before deciding to scrap aging everyone while keeping elements of it in parts of the story.

With that in mind it makes more sense as to why characters like Sansa who acted stupid for the predominant majority of the series is now suddenly wise beyond her years. She needs another decade or two to marinate in her follies for the sudden wisdom to be more believable IMO.

It also makes more sense that Arya would be the super badass faceless assassin at 30-35 than the 23 year old baby faced pup she still looks like right now.

reply

She actually looks more like 16 than 23.

reply

No doubt! Going by Maisie Williams age, but yeah she looks even younger.

reply

Totally agree. Loved the pacing/arcs of the first 4 seasons. Seasons 7 & 8 feel more like cliff notes.

Or an outline.

I can understand this for sure :) And thank you for being cool with your reply :)

I guess I am the minority when it comes to just enjoying something and not taking it too seriously?

Well, to each their own, yeah?

Take care of yourself!

No problem! :)

If the more intellectually engaging conversations about the show don't appeal to you, just don't participate. No reason to reach into your pants and fling your feces at those who do. Just head over to the Pikachu board.

The guy’s username was suggested by his 8 year-old son, as he rather condescendingly informed me. I think it’s great that he loves his son, but he cannot be expected to be taken seriously with such a self-loathing username. Just some background for you; and the Ignore button is always an option.

reply

Hey R_Kane :) I apologize if I seemed condescending, I really wasn't trying to be.

What I feel for my youngest is beyond love. He was a miracle. Literally. I was told I would not be able to have any more children due to a horrible miscarriage I had previously.

So yes, I understand it is hard to take me seriously due to the name but it honors him. I know that may seem silly but I have my reasons :)

Take care!

Yay Pikachu!! I am totally going to take my kids to see that movie if it's tame enough. I love Ryan Reynolds! Even if it is just in voiceover form, lol :)

I am not flinging poo at anyone although sometimes I sure wish I could :)

I just don't get so many complaints about shows, movies, etc. It's entertainment. Why can't people just enjoy it for what it is? Seems like a lot of excess stress to do otherwise.

Take care!
