Someone please tell me why Jon told Daenerys just before

Why the Hell did Jon find it necessary to tell Daenerys he was really Eagon just before an important battle! See, they made him a real dolt, not a hero! No wonder Sam is his best friend!

reply

The least he could've done, if he absolutely had to tell her then, was assure her that he had no interest in claiming the Iron Throne. I don't know why he picked that moment. Although it doesn't seem to have made a difference, it wasn't terribly smart.

reply

He should have immediately told her that he had no interest in the iron throne we he inappropriately brought up his true origins. It was obvious she was shaken by the idea of having a another claimant to the throne and instead of reassuring her he just stares at her.

reply

If you hadn't realized what a dolt he is until then, you haven't been paying attention.

Frankly, he probably told her then because it was the first time he'd had a chance to talk to her in private since Sam told him. He wouldn't think about the effect on the coming battle, because he never, EVER thinks out the coming battles.

reply

Didn't they find out about the impending battle after he told her? They knew they were coming, but they didn't know exactly when. That was really the first chance he had to talk to Dany

reply

No, they were informed that the army of the dead would be there before sunrise. There were several instances were they would be discussing there plans as a group and when they dispersed and leaving Jon and Daenerys alone he would walk off and she noticed his avoiding behavior towards her. Regardless, it was still inappropriate to bring that up considering the bigger priority ahead of them.

reply

No. Jon had all of episode two to tell her and he knew the impending battle was before dawn. The way he treated her after he found out was like she told him he killed his mother! It was so STUPID. I don't know why anyone thinks Jon is the hero. Ok he made people believe the dead was coming. Good boy. He screwed everything else

reply

Oh, Jon is noble and brave - but no one ever accused him of being a genius. Which is exactly why he shouldn't take the throne. Intelligence is what you want in a leader, when asses need kicking there are other people to do that for you. Jon just isn't well suited to the chess game of politics. He could best serve by taking Tyrion's role of being the conscience of the crown. Reminding Daenerys of her humanity. And of course, training their troops and riding off into battle at the head of their army if it's ever required, because those are the things he does well. As Lord Commander of the Night's Watch he was very much in his element.

reply

They had plenty of instances were he could have told her. If you recall he was avoiding her.

reply

Oh yeah.

Well, if you found out that your girlfriend was really your aunt, you'd avoid her too!

reply

We'll have to see how that goes. Will it be an impediment, or just business as usual for House Targaryen?

reply

Yeah, looking forward to seeing how THAT goes! I suspect Dany won't have a moment's problem with it, but Jon probably will.

Which is unrealistic, they've established that it's normal for the aristocrats of Westeros to marry their cousins, logically Jon should be fine with screwing or marrying an aunt of the same age. But they're probably going to have him freak out, like a modern person would.

reply

It is somewhat different having a relationship with your aunt/uncle than it is with a cousin. Also, the only marriage that involved 1st cousins that I can think of Tywin and Johanna. Lysa also suggested Sansa marrying Robin but she was not the image of sanity. The lannisters family tree would look very interesting.

reply

Your right, he is an idiot. He had at least two times that I saw that he could have told her. He blew her off like "she" did something wrong!!!

reply

Jon Snow still knows nothing, including badly timing what he says.

reply

True. They didn't let his character grow. He stayed stupid throughout the series!!!😬

reply

He still has stark blood and from what we see in the show the starks and pretty much all the people in the North are not known for their intellect.

reply

The cold froze their brain cells. Lol
