Is it possible for Bran's storyline to not be a complete and total failure/waste of time?

What revelations could we get that would justify the character deaths and 8 seasons of screen time to make his plot worth it? What a joke!

reply

Possible? Yes. Likely? Not at this rate.

They could pull something completely off-the-wall out of their butts, like Bran is another Night King and once they get to King's Landing to fight Cersei, he assumes his true identity, raises all the dead from the Cersei battle and attacks. (The first Night King was trying to kill him to prevent him from usurping the title of Night King.)

reply

Shit, that's dark.

Or maybe Jon will be the new Night King, and Bran will be his hand.

reply

Well, in the books (if I remember correctly) it was hinted that Bran is actually a servant of the Great Other.
So Bran being the Night King could be the case... in the books... should they be written ))

reply

Given what we've seen of the show since it went off the books, I'm not very optimistic that D&D are clever enough to make Bran's storyline relevant anymore.

reply

Bran planned to lure the Nightking to him being defended by Theon and expose himself in the end making the Nightking feel save ... until Arya happened.
That wasn't a coincidence.

I think people are reading too much into the Night King and his motivations.

I remember Bran saying at one point, something like "The Night King wants to erase this world. And I am its memory."

I took that as the Night King just wanted to wipe out all life and even the memory of all life. Nothing more.

He was just a Frankenstein's monster that got out of hand.

Bran as the Three Eyed Raven is a little too aloof and emotionally detached to be an effective ruler. But perhaps he (and all his successors) will become chief advisors to the King or Queen who sits on the Iron Throne. Tyrion was talking with Dani about a way to ensure that the changes she's going to bring will be permanent - that might be part of the answer. No need to hide from the Night King anymore. Why shouldn't Bran take a more active and public role, instead of finding a nice isolated cave to call home like the last Raven?
