We complained so bitterly about using the Knights of the Vale as a Deus ex Machina in the Battle of the Bastards, that they decided to use Arya as a Deus ex Machina to kill the biggest baddie of the series - the Night King?

I've been highly critical of seasons 7 and 8, but this wasn't one of my complaints. Arya's skills were built up since her Season 1 training with Syrio Forrel and with two full seasons undergoing brutal training with the Faceless Men. She's a legit killing machine.
