*SPOILERS* Why would I watch the rest?

Am I supposed to actually watch the remaining 3 episodes? What for? Fighting over the Iron Throne again? How am I supposed to care about that at this point? The white walkers were in the first scene of the first episode, before the titles, and they won't even be in the last 3 episodes? How does that make sense? They didn't even make it beyond Winterfell, just a short stroll from the Wall and only 3 episodes after they broke through. No lasting damage to the realm, no Long Night, winter came and ended, blink and you'll miss it. And now we're back to politicking which the whole POINT of the white walker threat was they weren't supposed to be doing in the first place.
7 seasons of buildup just to be immediately defeated as soon as they broke through. It's like they deliberately sabotaged this story. Episode 3 was the series finale as far as I'm concerned, I won't watch the rest.

And then comes the worst thing of all. Arya being the one to kill the Night King. This was my worst fear for the show, as I knew the dumbass writers had a boner for the character and that she was a fan favourite for the dumbass casual viewers. Such a terrible option to be the one to do it. It made absolutely no sense. There was nowhere for her to jump from. The godswood was a completely flat area and it was surrounded by White Walkers. So this ancient mystical being who has been carefully planning his attack south of the wall for thousands of years is killed in the most illogical and ridiculous way possible by the least worthy person to do it. Literally Bran, having eaten some dragon glass as a crow & shitting it out onto the Night King would have been better and more creative death. D&D are talentless hacks.

But yeah man, I dunno. Unless they have some trick up their sleeve and the Night King isn't really dead which doesn't seem likely, then I think we can say the show is pretty much ruined. The threat is gone and I don't see much point to the show any more. Sure it will be cool to see where all the characters end up and who, if anyone gets the throne. But it just feels kind of pointless now.

One word: Cleganebowl.

Enough said.

reply

See, it's probably people like you who I think they are now catering the show toward. "duhhh cleganebowlz hypez lolz. *air horns* OMG DRAGONZ"

The Clegane brothers duel should have been pre-Great War.

reply

Yes to the first part.

Wrong to the second part because Cleganebowl is the climax and therefore should be in the end.

reply

Definitely. If I knew everything else was going to be terrible, I would still watch just for this.

I've worried for years that these writers wouldn't be able to juggle both the Night King and Kings Landing storylines simultaneously and it looks like I was right unfortunately. It requires great writing in order to pull it off and it looks like these showrunners have finally proven they do not possess that skill. If they absolutely had to do it linearly, then they should have at least dealt with Cersei and the game playing BEFORE the Great War.

I mean, sure, since the source material ran out the show episodes have not been as good as before.
But I don’t think that the show intended to make it all about the WW, W and the NK. It’s called “Game of Thrones” not “The Night King takes them all”.
I always viewed it as a fantasy realm where they tell us a story of x amount of flawed characters, fighting to win the Iron Throne or aiding those they are loyal too, or just fighting for survival, whatever motivation they might have; with many side stories as we start to care about characters, and steppingstones and complications along the way. But the Titel gives away what it’s about. Would have liked the NK to kill everyone? Well that’s not where it went. Just as many others will be disappointed when their favorite doesn’t end up on it. Heck maybe they’ll all fight each other and in the end the Blackfyres (Golden Company) will take it for themselves as they fought for it in the Blackfyr Rebellion against the Targaryans 🤷‍♀️ But no matter what...someone will always be disappointed.
About the death...there is more than half (time wise, not episodes) left for many A listers to die.
