Help me locate a passage from one of the books.

It was in one of the later ones. A main character is on the March with a group of peasants. One of the peasants is an impoverished preacher or something. I think he’s was shoeless. They discuss at length the plight of the small folf as they are recruited into conflicts and then disposed of into lands that have been pillaged once they are no longer useful.

I can’t remember which book it was, but it stuck with me. Asoif focuses on knights and lords, so we hear very little from the 70 percenters.
