Why was Tyrion standing behind the door?

Is he in love with Dany or something? If anything i thought it would be Jorah standing there.

reply

I reckon he has betrayed Dany (considering we never seen the end of his and Cersei's conversation)

OR he found out about Jon being a Targaryen.

I'm not convinced Tyrion loves Dany.

reply

Tyrion knowing he's a Targaryen is impossible.

and betraying Dany seems very out of character.

reply

It does seem out of character, but maybe that's why he was looking at the door like that?

I don't think it's likely that he loves her. Although, every guy that goes near Dany seems to fall in love with her. Who knows.

reply

He's definitely in love with her. Just look at his face when she pinned the medal on him signifying he was her hands. He's in love dude.

reply

A person can look adoring when someone greatly admire tells them they're doing a fantastic job and they're getting a promotion. And Tyrion may be worried that Jon is going to become Dany's favorite adviser and a threat to his own position, or that Danerys's feelings for Jon may affect her judgement. So I'm not ready to say that Tyrion is in love with Danerys, not at all, at this point his concerns could be entirely professional.

He should worry about his own judgement, which has been off lately. Still, that only makes him a million times smarter than Jon, rather than a billion.

reply

He looked at her that way because he just said he believes in her and supports her cause. He never really believed in anything before, even though people were always telling him what to believe in. The only time in the show when Tyrion was happy was when he was made temporary Hand, because his father recognized his value and he was good at it. When Dany makes him Hand, he is now able to do what he is good at for a cause he believes in.

reply

Hodor/holding the door, stemming the tide of bad things. ;)

reply

I think he was worried about the impact the two of them sleeping together would have on the war to come.. People are much more willing to do what it takes if they have no ties.

reply

I agree with you Fairy _snuff...It's kind of late in the day to fuel Tyrion with unrequited love..I think Tyrion saw it coming but finds it troubling and problematic. They don't need any distractions right now.

reply

Yeah, there's definitely no romantic love between the two of them so far as I can tell (Tyrion and Dany)... he may be jealous that he was the hand, and he was her most trusted advisor and now she seems to be listening more to Jon.

reply

He's right to worry. Jon's a lovely guy, but he's no master politician and he's a real disaster as a general. He frankly lost the battle of the bastards and was only saved by Sansa's underhandedness, and his stupid zombie-hunting expedition did uncalculable damage to their cause.

If Dany starts taking advice from him uncritically, as one does when in love, the living don't stand a chance against the dead.

reply

Yes, and he knows all about it because of how Cersei affected Jaime.

reply

The setup for this is when she decides to take her dragons and go save the crew north of the wall. It's not a smart thing for her to do and she knows this but does it anyway. He gives a similar look when he's on the cliffs watching them fly away.

reply

He's simply a pervert.

reply

lol!

reply

Cersei did say that Dani was Tyrion's type. Perhaps he does have a thing for her and now he's jealous. Tyrion needs to join the same club that Jorah and Daario belong to.

reply

If danaerys falls for Jon, Tyrion loses considerable sway in strategic counsel. He now has a nephew or niece on the way, cerseis pregnancy changes his calculus, and now he loses danaerys ear if she is in love with Jon. If they decide to kill pregnant cersei he won't be able to stop them. So I think he is conflicted.

reply

YES cersei's pregnany will make the littleman change sides.

reply

If it does, he’d turn out to be a man of little conviction. VERY little.

Talking about »building a better world« all the time, and then going: »What, my hated sister is pregnant? Fuck the better world, I’ve gotta help her!«
I mean, even Jaime wouldn’t let himself being stopped from turning away from Cersei by the fact that she’s pregnant, and he loves her AND is father to that child.

In my opinion, a twist like that is so far-fetched, that it’s nothing but REALLY bad writing.
Of course, we already had TV shows that were great in the beginning but ruined in the end by bad writing…
so who knows?

I think there was something in the wine Tyrion drank in Cercei's room. They made it a point to show us him pouring wine into another glass for Cercei, but she didn't drink it even though she's practically a functioning alcoholic. It's not that far-fetched that Cercei knew Tryion would be the one to come and try to convince her to change her mind about the truce and everyone who knows Tryrion would expect him to go for the wine at some point during their conversation. That could have been planned just like she had planned for Euron's fake fleeing.

Having said that, I wouldn't like it if the show, in the very last season, introduces a potion that allows you to make people do things for you. That would be stupid, so I hope I'm wrong.

reply

»but she didn't drink it even though she's practically a functioning alcoholic«

Yes, she is, but she’s also pregnant.
So my interpretation was that her not drinking was written into the story to give Tyrion a clue. Then her hand on the belly, so he just had to put two and two together…

»I wouldn't like it if the show, in the very last season, introduces a potion that allows you to make people do things for you. That would be stupid«

I agree 100% here.

reply

I thought about that but I don't think the people in the GoT universe are concerned about drinking while pregnant. Also, she was drinking when she met with the guy from the Iron Bank. I thought that was after she revealed to Jaime that she is pregnant.

reply

I think it's pretty far-fetched. Why would she listen to the person who she hates the most? She barely tolerated him when he was serving as acting Hand and their father was still alive as a buffer. She tormented him when he was an infant. I know Tyrion is a good talker, but it still made no sense to me.

reply

The keyword was "try". Obviously no one, not even Jaime, was able to convince her. The question is, could Cercei have predicted that Tyrion would be the one to be sent into her room. I think it was safe for her to assume that the Team Dany wouldn't just give up and leave after going to all that trouble to capture and bring the wight to KL, so she must have been expecting someone.

reply

"Why was Tyrion standing behind the door?"

Because three's a crowd.

reply

Tyrian won't betray Dany. She's one of the few people that's treated him with deep admiration and respect. His brother cared for him at one point and still does a bit. His father and sister always hated him. So for him to betray one a a couple people who really values his existence seems to be a stretch. I know if he thinks Cersei is pregos then maybe.
