Not sure if this has been asked before, but do the White Walkers have a language? What about the wights?
I don't think we've heard the WWs utter a sound. Maybe it's telepathic? Craster had to have some way to make the deal with them, after all.
As for the wights, we can assume that screeching is an alarm, and they do snarl. Could a newly-turned wight be able to speak human words if it still had its head and neck in tact?

On a related note, I was thinking... What if Sansa becomes the Night Queen? She's already super pale, has been through multiple bad marriages, and she's a Stark. I don't remember many of the theories surrounding the Night Queen, however, so I could be way off the mark.
I think they don't say any words on camera to keep them mysterious and dangerous. Choosing the correct voice can sometimes be a tough thing to do. Writers are doing everything they can to make sure Night King conveys his threat without using his voice, a la Hardhome.
I'm sure in the in-universe setting, the Night King speaks just as often as Cersei, Bronn, or Ser Jorah. Whether he will speak in George R R Martin's books remains unknown.
If it's about finding the right voice, I think they would have found one by now. *shrug*
The silence does certainly add some mysteriousness. I'm just curious.
As for the Wight's being able to communicate, probably not, I don't believe they are sentient they are just drones for the Night King and his White Walkers, who are very likely sentient. So it is probably a form of magic, psionic, or telepathy that keeps them under control. So a White Walker dies, and the wight/skeleton falls to the ground, definitely linked that way.
As for the Frozen Giants and Ice Dragon Viserion, probably also linked to the White Walkers that way.
There is definitely magic involved, lol. Telepathy would be cool.
Some wights do seem to show signs of semi-sentience, though. Like the one the Hound hit was the first one to advance. And the wight they captured reacting to his/its imprisonment. Doubtful that they'd indulge in any kind of small talk, however.
Night King received the same treatment from Children of the Forest as Benjen Stark - he got a piece of dragonglass inserted into his chest. I figure if Benjen Stark can talk after that, then the Night King can also talk. I prefer Night King not to talk though. He looks more intimidating when he's silent.
shareThere was a formal language developed for the show, but it was not really used. It's supposed to sound like ice cracking, they do use some random ice cracking sounds a couple times in the show. The wight dragon kinda sounded like that at times, but I think what they did for that was take the regular dragon sound and reverse it + some decay.

shareThe Wights are just mindless zombies, they are controlled (probably telepathically) by the WW who created it.
The WW do have a language in the books which is discribed to sound like ice crackling.
