Goblet Of Fire is the best HP movie

Rewatching them, most of them haven't aged well. The last four in particular can be tedious at times to sit through.
Azkaban and Goblet are still pretty watchable though. PoA is kinda delicate and thoughtful, GoF is better at spectacle and character development.
Deciding factor for me is the Horntail. Still the best TV/Movie dragon(wyvern) I've ever seen.

Thoughts?

The North Forgets.

I know a million people will probably disagree, but I like the 5th movie the best. I hated the 5th book though. The 3rd book was my favorite.

reply

I'm with you on the books, but the fifth movie has never resonated with me. Aside from the Dumbledore's Army parts, plenty of cringe-worthy moments (Hermione's psycho laughing after the "emotional range of a teaspoon" quip, Harry's weird crack dream towards the end, Luna)

The North Forgets.

The first two are among the best kids movies ever made. I think I do like GoF the most though as well, HBP was good too.

reply

Even though the plot was absurdly contrived and silly I have to agree GoF was one of the best purely in terms of spectacle. The other I liked was Chamber of Secrets.

reply

I'm pretty divided on Harry Potter.

The first two are enjoyable, nostalgic kids movies.

The last 5 are melodramatic YA.

Prisoner of Azkaban is the only one I would call great.

I thought GoF wasn't a very good adaptation of the book personally. Most of the film felt really rushed like they clearly were desperate to keep it within 2 and a half hours, and glossed over many great scenes, like the opening with Voldemort in the house was awful, the quidditch championship was barely a thing, the graveyard scene with Voldemort also felt rushed and overacted. The worst was Gambon's Dumbledore with his yelling at students, getting angry at Harry and almost strangling him out of frustration. They turned the wisest and coolest wizard of all time into a gruff and drunken *beep* who seemed to have no idea what was going on. Also this was the first HP without John Williams, and his presence was sorely missed in the music. I felt the film was a drop in quality to the previous lot.

Una!

Chamber and Askaban are the best.

"Valley girls giving blowjobs for Louboutins, what you call that? Head over heels?"

reply

Azkaban is easily the best I think, followed by the two Hallows films.

Goblet of Fire is probably after that, though. Solid film.

reply

Agreed. And while I think that the death hallows are my favorites, I can't deny that Azkaban was the best made film.

It's great. But it'll never beat Prisoner of Azkaban.

I'm entirely sure that you're entirely sure what I'm implying.
