thats what i always thought. dunno why certain people refer to the word satan, which isnt a name...
sharei mean it's sort of a name. it traces back to the ancient hebrew word for adversary. but most names are like that. louis, for example, comes from an old proto-germanic phrase meaning "famed warrior." they've lost their original meanings, but all names once meant something other than just a name. lucifer means "light bringer." same thing.
sharei guess, but satan wasnt really designed to be a name. as louis and lucifer are names, that used to mean something else. the word satan originally was not meant nor designed as a name.
