Just finished Season 5 of The Shield

Damn, sh-t is heating up now. Forest Whitakers character is a f-cking Grade A douche canoe.

reply

I'm starting the whole thing tonight or tomorrow. Does it start off well?

reply

Yea it starts off fast.

reply

Eh, he's better than every member of the Strike Team. I'm rooting for him.

reply

Lem and Ronnie are pretty good dudes, Shane is def a piece of sh-t, Mackey is extremely grey. Are you in the middle of watching it as well?

reply

Nah, I'm actually re-watching with my roommate, who's seeing it for the first time. We just finished Season 5 yesterday, coincidentally.

I actually think Mackey is worse than Shane, personally. But it could be the later seasons coloring my judgement. Lem and Ronnie are still drug dealers and armed robbers, as likeable as they may be.

reply

Well I haven't seen the last two, but I'm guessing Mackey goes off the rails. I just could never see him doing to Lem what Shane did. Dudes loyal to a fault, Shane isn't.

reply

But is loyalty to what is essentially a criminal gang all that commendable? I personally don't think so. And Mackey has done some heinous sh"t

reply

No it isn't, and I despise cops like them, because I've had my fair share of run ins with them. I just think Mackey's loyalty is what separates him from Shane. Like they say about the criminals, "the only thing that separates us from them, is that we have loyalty." I'm guessing that he final two seasons will have Mackey finding out about Shane, and we'll truly see him pushed to the edge. That's when my opinion will probably change.

reply

I won't comment further, but suffice to say you're in for a ride. Season 6 is a bit of a transitional season though.

reply

Yea I heard it sets up 7 nicely. I'll post something on the board when I finish it.

reply

Season 5, 6 and 7 are all basically one big season in my mind. Hardly any time between them anyway.
