Biggest battle yet CONFIRMED for season 7 (SPOILERS!)

It will be a month-long shoot in Spain, with as many extras as the BotB.

CONFIRMED to be Daenerys vs. Lannisters. Location: the Reach or Dorne.

And it will happen in the mid-season, possibly episode 4, as the leaks claim.

Sounds awesome. However, Mylod as director? That has me worried, unless he somehow turns out to be great at huge battle sequences.

reply

Who knows. Maybe he'll be amazing. I think we all don't like him because they previously have given him bad parts in the story. But maybe he'll end up being amazing, HBO isn't gonna have that big of a battle with someone they don't have trust in.

Also, we don't know if he is directing the episode. Three directors have been spotted on site. Maybe they'll have more than one.

reply

He's bad at directing action sequences. But fret not, if it's Mylod, the battle will happen off-screen anyway.

Mylod is confirmed for episode 2, and he's on set when Jon lands on Dragonstone and reunites with Tyrion, so the Jon and Dany meeting happens in episode 4 (not 3 like a certain someone claimed), which is also the ambush episode.

The big ambush had been reported a month or so before the leak. And who will be involved had been widely theorised. It was obvious it'd be Team Daenerys, dragons and Lannisters. Like no surprise there. No inside source needed.

another leak confirmed?

reply

Man I was hoping they'd put most of their battle focus into a naval battle.

reply

Probably too expensive.

reply

That is definitely too expensive and ambitious for the show - the ending scene of season 6 with Dany sailing on the boats, was apparently hard enough to film by itself. There will be a naval skirmish of some sort, as Euron will ambush Yara, Theon, Ellaria and the SS, and kill almost all of them.

Una!

reply

Well Euron can still attack from the sea while this is happening.

You just made my day!!

But Mylod as the director? Sounds like a weird choice indeed. I mean he's not bad, I'd just expect it to be Taylor or something.

wonder if they will have the Dothraki ride across the enemy front launching arrows Parthian style. since their bows are more powerful than Westerosi bows the arrows would be armor piercing.

So there will be a lot of tea parties then?

Dude, British Army instructors are the people who taught the US Marines to throw suspected Viet Cong out of helicopters to try to get information. It's been a long time since they ruled an Empire, but their military is nothing to sneer at.
