so...just HOW MANY TARGS are left?

I've been re-watching G.O.T. episodes and there seems to be a discrepancy.

I just watched an episode where Ser Barastan (spelling?) counsels Dany regarding a Harpy. Ser Barastan said after the Mad King was killed, only 2 Targaryans were left.

I would think that would refer to Dany and her crazy brother (the one Khal Drogo poured molten gold over his head)...

However, Aemon Targaryan was still alive and living on the wall. (If I'm not mistaken, you're still a member of the family on the wall but you are forgiven for any crimes or previous mischief...).

Anyway, just how many Targs are left and did I catch one of the big storyline issues from G.O.T.?

Barristan Selmy was not referring to Aemon as one of the remaining Targs because of his oath to the Night's Watch. I believe in that oath you renounce your family. Plus Aemon is now dead so.

In the book there might be many Targaryen bastards around and of course Aegon. In the show Jon, Dany and some say Jaqen might be half Targaryen.

People who do not believe Varys is a merman usually think he is a Targaryen too.

Some people even believe Tyrion might be Targ.
